There's a lot of uncertainty as we enter the year 2021's summer. That includes how we will serve the society will incorporate the highly-valued relationship between humans that Rotary participants had in previous time. Though the mantra of hands face space' is sure to continue to be a component of our practice, it's evident that confidence is building and connections between face-to-face occur. Rotary has indeed changed. As we approach the weeks leading to summer 2021 there's still a lot of uncertainty regarding what we can do to provide services to the local community. This is based on the human connections valued by Rotary previous members. However, it is evident that the hand-to-face ritual remains the norm for Rotary. Rotary however has evolved. Rotary has changed. In order to keep our meetings online, we have reintroduced service and social gatherings in a meeting room. Our newfound opportunities have combined with the lessons we have learned about our past pandemics to create a perspective to Rotary. It's encouraging to know that 75 percent of Rotary clubs are planning to carry on their "business as usual" activities. This summer, many Rotary members were out with their families and friends, working on various projects including river and beach cleanings and litter pick-ups. Watch this video 1. Amazingly, our Rotarians are able to find innovative and creative solutions to some of the most difficult challenges. This is why I was thrilled to have the chance to become a member of Rotary when I joined in the year 2002. Like so many Rotary members, it has given me a strong trustworthy network of likeminded people from which genuine friendships have grown over the past twenty years.
